Lois Blanche Turner, 93, of Sea Girt, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at St. Luke's Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. She died ironically of influenza after having recovered from aspirational pneumonia that had been induced three months earlier through the inattention and misdiagnosis of a different hospital in the City.

Born in Newark, NJ, she was a graduate of Columbia High School and had been raised in Maplewood.

Mrs. Turner was a Flight Attendant with National Airlines, flying between New Orleans, Miami and Havana in the late 1940's and then became a proud homemaker. As a child, she had been a summer resident of Sea Girt; more than 40 years ago, she moved to the Borough with her late husband Norman and resided throughout the year with enjoyment and happiness.

In addition to her late husband, Mrs. Turner was predeceased by her parents, Blanche and Theodore Augustine, the Secretary-Treasurer of Radio Free Europe for many years, and by her first husband, U.S. Air Force Colonel Lester Cunningham. Her beloved stepson, James Turner, also predeceased her.

She is survived by her son, Theodore Cunningham, of Sea Girt and her sister, Gail Lange, of Bridgewater as well as her stepdaughter, Patricia Munz. She will miss her nephew and nieces, her step-grandchildren and all of their children.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 12pm to 1pm at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ 08736. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sea Girt Fire Company No.1 at PO Box 244 Sea Girt, NJ 08750-0244.
